The Coal Hole

The Coal Hole was a singing establishment found in London around 1850. It and similar others formed the foundation for the Music Halls that followed, the radio variety that gathered together a nation and the TV Screen which would blight conversation until the invention of the mobile phone.

This blog will in time offer a fair amount of information on comedy over the last 100 years as well as some great links for you to enjoy it again. I’m not interested in clever widgets so this will be a very simple site. My health is poor but I will endeavour to reply to any comments as time and health permits.
